Washing Clothes is Such a Bore

Right now it is 1 in the morning and I am still waiting for the last batch of clothes to come out of the dryer. Washing clothes has been such a chore and I have been a fool to start with the washing process at 9 in the evening. I did not realize that it would take me this much time just to get everything done.

I put on three loads of clothes this week--this week alone! Gosh, I did not know I was this wasteful when it comes to clothes. I normally wear a pair of jeans for 2 or 3 days in a row, but everything else is changed daily. I do not put any chemicals of sort, such as perfume, that stink worse than sweat when dried. So there was really no point changing everyday, but it was already a habit of mine, you see.

The dryer continues to turn around. I reckon it will take another 15 to 20 minutes before it finally comes to a rest. Hopefully, by that time everything is already dried but I suspect the pair of jeans there will still remain a little bit damp. It's been there for 2 30-minute cycles already and yet it still refuses to dry up. I hate jeans.

Sometimes I wonder how life might have been if there were still no washing machines or no dryers. You just get a tub of water, a bar of soap, and a small chair where you can sit on while you wash each and everyone of your clothes for about 10 minutes. That would have been exhausting. No wonder many people allocate special days just for washing clothes. For this I am ever thankful to be born during the late 20th century. The time I saved is better put off to other productive activities like listening to the dryer or ironing my clothes.

At this point, the dryer has finally stopped spinning. Let me see if the jeans are already dry. Hopefully they already are. I won't stand another half-hour without sleeping.
