A month or two months ago, the company management where I work in already announced the exact date and venue of our Christmas Party for this year. The theme for this year will be a formal ball, which will be held in the ballroom of one of those big hotels in the city. It was OK, fancy and all, but we were also told that the dress code is formal, meaning I have to wear a tuxedo.
Problem is I don't have a tuxedo! It's one of those classic dilemmas that men my age always face whenever the issue of formal wear is brought up. Should we purchase a tuxedo or should we already go with just renting one from the shop? Clearly, this is an issue that needed help, and help is what I asked for from one my friends. He told me that wearing a tuxedo is one of the most basic things that a man has to have in his wardrobe. Sometimes, the tuxedo you wear is also the one that you will be preparing for your wedding day. If a man has more than one or two events in a year where he should wear a tux, then there's no reason not to buy it. Otherwise, it might actually a better option to rent unless we want the tux to accumulate dust in the process. Now if you're torn between buying your own tux and renting because you can't afford to pay for an excellent tux and you don't want to shell out money everytime you have to go to a formal dinner party, then go for purchasing a cheap tuxedo instead. Despite what you may think, very few people actually see the difference between a cheap tuxedo and an expensive one. You also don't have to worry about the style because tuxedos generally don't fade away from style, as long as they are bought wisely. Black tuxedos are pretty much the standard when it comes to this kind of formal clothing. Add in a nice bow tie and vest, and you're ready to go for those formal social events. You can talk about...
