Clothes ArticlesHow to Maintain Your Suit
A suit is one of the most important pieces in any male professional's wardrobe. Wearing a suit can put some sense of distinction in any man's image maybe because it is always associated with office work and the upper classes. Hence, it is also one of the most expensive. So when you buy a suit for your own, make sure that you take good care of them so that you can you make your suits last. Here are some tips that you can follow to maintain your suits.
First in the order of rules for suit maintenance is keeping it clean. Use a small brush to keep off any lint or dust from settling permanently in your suit. If you still have the plastic case that came along when you bought your suit, then just keep it there. This is to ensure that your suit looks good and new every time you wear it. Many men also make the mistake of not putting their suits in a hanger. When you allow the suit to be tucked away for long periods of time, the shape and stiffness of your suit may be destroyed. Better hang your suit in a hanger that is broad and round. Ironing your suits is an essential activity that you have to do every few months in order to remove wrinkles. As a general rule, only use a steam iron for suits. Using a dry iron may cause damage to your suits. Also take note of the fabric used for your suits. If it is made of wool, then it is extra sensitive so watch out and be careful with the heat movement or else you risk putting in shiny spots in your suit. Another important point is to make sure that you do not overstuff your suit's pockets with various things. This could ruin the shape of your suit. If you have things to bring, put them in a separate bag instead of your pockets. Finally, in the unfortunate case wherein you stain your suits, give it to the dry cleaner immediately instead of trying to fix it yourself. Take care not to make too many visits to the dry cleaner though, because every time you do, the fibers of the cloth become weaker.
